About this experience

Discover one of Europe's most idyllic medieval city in a 3-4 hours bike tour that will include a mixture of history, culture and the green landscapes of this beautiful place. Located some 215 km north-west of Bucharest, Sibiu is one of the seven fortified cities in Transylvania, forming the Saxon fortified network €œSiebenburgen€ -€“ the foundation of Saxon society. We will cross the old city center, reach the Sub Arini Park, later on Dumbrava forest and finish the tour at the majestic Astra Ethnographic Open air Museum for an option lunch.

What you'll see

Sibiu presents itself as a true cultural capital of Romania, appealing to the tourists due to its medieval charm, its local gastronomy and traditions and to its natural landscape.

Our trip will start in the Old city Center -in the middle of the Big Square, at the old fountain. The buildings surrounding this market are all historical monuments, each of it having its own story and specific architecture.

From the Big Square we will pass, through a small passage under the Council Tower, to the Small Square, another meeting place for the locals and for the tourists. Living the old city, we will descend in the €œlower town and we will follow a cycling path toward the green are of the city to reach the biggest open-air museum in Romania – Astra Ethnographic Museum. This place is hosting various original traditional houses from all over Romania, old crafts and decorations from Transylvania. The open air museum is also hosting two traditional restaurants, a good opportunity to chat with your guide about the places you just visited.

Back to the Old city center, we will end the tour in the same place, near the old fountain of the citadel.

The tours include guidance, assistance and a refreshing drink. The tour can be customized based on your request and based on the sights you want to visit.
