Detailed itinerary

1

The smallest of the seven Saxon walled cities in Transylvania, but probably the prettiest. UNESCO site, the citadel of Sighisoara is one of the last medieval fortresses in Europe still inhabited. We will discover it step by step, walking on the narrow cobbled streets, flanked by colourful houses, still at the shelter inside the medieval walls.

2

The main defence tower, former town wall, nowadays museum, the Clock Tower offers the best view of the citadel from its balcony located at the last level. We will need to climb some narrow stairs to get there, but the view is worth all the efforts. We will have a closer look at the seven wooden figurines who are adorning the clock and we will find the story behind each of them.

3

Located in the picturesque village of Biertan, the church is one of the best-fortified ones in Transylvania, with 3 layers of walls and several towers and bastions. Built in the 16th century, UNESCO site, the church and the fortress are having a lot of stories to be revealed to the visitor: the marriage prison, the ingenious lock, the Turkish rugs, the punishment stone, just to name a few of them.

4

The medieval town of Medias is a hidden gem in the heart of Transylvania. Colourful houses, cobbled streets, elegant architecture, intriguing symbols and even a leaning tower are just a few things to make you consider a visit to this city.
