Detailed itinerary

1
Stop 1

The postcard image of Sibiu, the Large Square is the biggest of all the historical spaces in the Upper Town. Today, the Large Square is an open-air exhibition of fine Baroque-style monuments like the must-visit Brukenthal Museum and many more aristocratic residences from the past centuries.

The space of the Square is also representative of the religious diversity of Sibiu that once meant powerful churches fighting for domination.

2

The second fortification line from the Upper Town incorporated what we call today the Small Square, the place where Lower Town merchants sold their good in the medieval centuries. Some of the monuments here conserve even today the typical gallery architecture of the merchant houses.

3

Step on the famous Liars’ Bridge to reach the next attraction of the itinerary: Huet Square.

The oldest part of the Upper Tower and the place of the first fortification system, Huet Square is dominated by the Evangelical Church, an imposing monument built during several centuries, the legacy of the German colonist who founded Sibiu centuries ago.

4

One of the iconic places of Sibiu, this part of the Upper Town preserves centuries-old defensive towers equipped for artillery fights. It’s part of the last fortification system built to protect the city.

5

The main walking street of Sibiu, ending up in the Big Square.

6

Old streets and churches

Walk on some of the oldest streets in the city, discovering many old and interesting monuments. Not to mention, more of the old religious monuments in Sibiu: Ursulinelor Church, the Orthodox Cathedral and the Catholic Church.
