Vieques Island, known as Isla de Vieques, is a small island municipality of Puerto Rico, lying 8 miles (13 km) east of the mainland. It is part of the Spanish Virgin Islands. With a land area of 52.47 square miles (135.88 square kilometers), Vieques is the third-largest island in Puerto Rico, after the Island of Puerto Rico and Culebra. Vieques has a population of 9,301 as of the 2020 Census.
