Overview

Bassenthwaite Lake is the most northern of the lakes in the Lake District, Cumbria, England, and is the only one referred to as a 'lake' by the locals, rather than a 'mere' or 'water'. It is the largest lake in the Far Eastern part of the Lake District. The lake is home to a variety of wildlife, including the rare vendace fish.

Bassenthwaite Lake is the only official 'lake' in the Lake District and is a haven for wildlife, offering a tranquil and scenic experience.
