About this experience

Delve into the history and culture of Ponce — home to museums, prehistoric sites, and vibrant gardens —on this day trip to the Pearl of the South.
Depart from your San Juan hotel and travel to the 17th-century city, where a certified tour guide will show around during a two hour walking tour. Visit Plaza las Delicias and its surroundings to learn about historical sites such as Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Cathedral, Firehouse, and City Hall. You will also learn about local spots, cuisine and art directly from a local.

After the walking tour we will make a stop for lunch. Food cost is not included, but you will enjoy from a local lunch menu special.

We will proceed to Serrallés Castle, where you will enjoy a 45 min. guided tour of the Museum. After the tour, and depending on the group's interest and schedule, we can add up to 30 minutes visit to other areas of the Castle.

Detailed itinerary

Stop 1

Begin with pickup from your San Juan location and travel in the company of your guide and small group to Ponce, roughly 1.5 hours heading South. During this traveling time you will have the opportunity to admire how Puerto Rico’s diverse geography goes from city/urban, to the lush tropical mountain areas, reaching then the dry zone of the South.

You will visit the Ponce’s Historic Zone during a two hour walking tour, known for its unique architecture and downtown plaza. Here you will see historical landmarks such as Our Lady of Guadalupe Cathedral, the century-old red-and-black wooden firehouse Parque de Bombas, and the neoclassical and Spanish Revival facades as you go. All while receive interesting and educational facts from your professional certified guide.

During the course of the tour we will stop at a Puerto Rican restaurant to enjoy from an authentic lunch (food cost not included).

Stop 2

After lunch, we will proceed to visit Castillo Serrallés. Here you will enjoy a 45 minutes guided tour of the Museum. Depending on the group's interest and schedule, we can make a visit for up to 30 minutes to other areas of the Castle and it's grounds.
