About this experience

Enjoy a full day Sightseeing tour to the Alkmaar Cheese market, windmills, the countryside, a local cheese and clogs factory and Volendam.
The Alkmaar Cheese Market is the oldest and largest in the Netherlands. Since 1365, Alkmaar has had one cheese scale, and by 1612, the city had as many as four cheese scales. Even the Waagplein, where the cheese market has been held since its inception, has been expanded several times.
The next stop is the Zaanse Schans. Here are special windmills such as the paint windmill, the sawmill, spices mill and peanut oil mill.
Thereafter you will see a wooden shoe demonstration and there is a possibility to buy clogs/wooden shoes and other nice souvenirs.
The second stop will be at the Henri Willig farm where they will teach you how they treat their cows and there is a possibility to see how they milk the cows.
Thereafter it is time to taste more than 30 flavors of very nice Dutch cheese for free!
Duration of the tour will be 8 hours incl. driving time.

The Alkmaar Cheese Market is the oldest and largest in the Netherlands. Since 1365, Alkmaar has had one cheese scale, and by 1612, the city had as many as four cheese scales. Even the Waagplein, where the cheese market has been held since its inception, has been expanded several times. These facts highlight the significant importance of the cheese trade to Alkmaar.

Stop 2

Discover the great Dutch Windmills and make some nice pictures of it. There are 7 windmills left at the Zaanse Schans and a few are open to visit. You can visit the paint windmill (that is where Rembrandt the great Dutch artist purchased his paint), a saw mill, a spice mill and many more.
Admission to the windmill park and parking costs are included in this tour.

Stop 3

Visit the clogs factory andd see how the make wooden shoes and there is a possibility to buy wooden shoes and clogs.

See the special paint mill from inside. This is the last working windmill on earth who can produce paint. Rembrandt the great Dutch artist purchased his paint at this windmill.
