Detailed itinerary

We will pick you up from the hotel located in the city of Tarapoto to go towards Alto Mayo, one of the most beautiful places on the planet. This spot is a birdwatching paradise with amazing landscapes of lush vegetation and incredible waterfalls, as well as underground caves to explore and hot springs to enjoy. The tour to Alto Mayo Valley starts in the city of Rioja located 87 miles to the north of Tarapoto. After a journey of more than 2 hours we are going to arrive at the source of the Tioyacu river.

After the visit Tio yacu, we will go to the touristic center known as the Chacra Vieja. Here you can taste typical drinks and buy local handicrafts. Later, you will enjoy a typical lunch with regional dishes and fresh ingredients.

After lunch, we will go to the city of orchids Moyobamba to visit the orchidarium. Moyobamba, city located in the region of San Martín, has 1500 varieties of orchids with different shapes and colors. The Alto Mayo Protected Area there are registered like 300 species of orchids. In this wonderful nursery you will be able to admire these fantastic plants together with a professional guide and if you wish, you can buy one. At the end of this unique experience, we are going back to the city of Tarapoto to drop you off at the hotel.
