Designed and built in the late 19th century, it reflects the sensitivity and cultural, philosophical and scientific interests of the main owner, António Augusto de Carvalho Monteiro (1848-1920), allied with the virtuosism of Italian architect and scenographer Luigi Manini (1848). - 1936). The culture and creativity of these two personalities resulted in an eclectic-revivalist architectural ensemble, with particular emphasis on Manueline, Renaissance, medieval and classical styles.

Isolated in the high, on one of the peaks OF the Sierra DE Sintra, the Castle of the Moors is a fun fortification DA in the 10th century, the time of the Muslim occupation of the Iberian Peninsula.
