Early on along our way, we pass the historic Berchtesgaden Salt Mine, in continuous operation for more than 500 years. Salt is still produced here today, and the mine offers spectacular underground tours to visitors. A visit inside is not part of this tour.
A few kilometers uphill, take a short break next to the Germany’s highest golf course. Enjoy sweeping alpine views and learn about its historical significance, as Adolf Hitler once walked here daily to his so-called Tea House.
The first finish line of our e-bike ride is the official bike parking, located just 1 km below the summit. From here, we can either walk up to the Eagle’s Nest to enjoy breathtaking alpine vistas, or take the historic elevator that leads directly into the heart of the building.
The highlight of the tour: the Eagle’s Nest, perched dramatically atop Kehlstein mountain at 6,017 ft. Explore its remarkable history, original features such as the marble fireplace and brass elevator, and take in the spectacular panoramic views over Lake Königssee, Mount Watzmann, and the Bavarian Alps.
Ride through the historic Obersalzberg area, once home to Hitler and high-ranking officers. Learn about its past and, optionally, take a short walk into the woods to discover the lesser-known ruins of Hitler’s Berghof. From here, enjoy panoramic alpine vistas that recall the dramatic history of this site.
Our tour begins at the bus stop “Watzmanntherme” (lines 837, 840, 848), right next to the bike rental shop Sport M+R Brandner. E-bikes can be reserved in advance – just contact me if you need assistance.
