Detailed itinerary

As you journey from the port into the city of Basseterre you are immediately immersed into the warmth of the island citizens. Upon entering the center of Basseterre, a striking monument a green clock will certainly increase your curiosity. During the British rule in the 1800’s after a fire destroyed the city of Basseterre and it was rebuilt, this clock was built in the honour of Lord Thomas Berkleley, a former president of the General Legislative Council in the 1880’s. This historic monument has four clocks facing the four streets, four water stands and seating area around the clock. Hence, the name (The Circus). This depicts the Piccadilly Square in London which host the famous clock, “Big Ben”. In St. Kitts since we were under British rule ours became, “Little Ben”.

View the church which was built 1856 and rebuilt 1927 - 1928. This structure is still in good condition and a historical architectural structure which is evidence of the artistic designs of the era.

Stop 3 Pass by

Bloody Point gets it name from the massacre of the Kalinago Indians that took place in the village of Challengers in the 1600s. The British had settled quite close to the Indians and told them they did this to secure the chickens within the area. The chief, Tegreman became suspicious when Sir Thomas Warner (the first governor of St Kitts) returned from England with African slaves and more settlers. The Indian chief decided to ask the neighboring island for help as he planned his attack. He was betrayed by a woman. It is said the slaughter of the Indians was so intense that the river ran red with blood for days.

The Gibraltor of the West Indies, “Brimstone Hill” (a beautiful fortress. Now a UNESCO Heritage Site. A US$15 fee (inclusive of tour) is required towards the continued restoration of this magnificent fortress. Explore this majestic structure as you view, cannon guns, artifacts of the 18th century British soldiers uniforms, tools and much more. The visit will certainly enlighten you on the history whilst you marvel at this imposing architectural structure.
