About this experience

This tour leaves Port zante, the st.kitts marriott or any other place agrees upon and travels along the the island main road towards Basseterre. On arrival into Basseterre city our rich European and African history is evident in the architecture. We drive by our picidilli circus, independence square, war memorial before reaching the three most outstanding points of interest which are the Romney manor sugar plantation, The caribelle batik shop/factory and The Brimstonehill fortress. At each of the three areas time is given for browsing, photography and the spectacular views.. the tour then travels in the same direction and back to your hotel.

Stop 1

Travelers can view this 800 ft stone structure which is the former British military fort of the 17 & 18th.century. Very photographic view of the surrounding areas of St. Eustatius, Saba, St. Marten and Anguilla. A UNESCO world heritage site. The structure is well intact all the museums, barracks and artifacts are for viewing.

Stop 2

This scenic view of the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea with a photographic view of the sister island, Nevis can be seen at this point forms part of this tour. You can also do a little shopping here for souvenirs and gifts from the local vendors.

Stop 3

Travelers touring this area are given the opportunity to browse this 400 year old sugar plantation with the structure in well preserved conditions. This forms part of our rain forest and free rum tasting of the original molasses rum can be sampled here. In walking around one can observe our medicinal plant life have an overview of the way sugar was produced here 400 years ago.

Attached to the Romney manor is the Caribelle batik. Batik is traditionally an Indonesian style of art done on the island for over 50 years by way of printing on 100% cotton. At the demonstration area one can have a first hand view of the way it’s done after walking though our lush botanical garden. Our guests would be also given the opportunity to purchase any item of batik nature all on display at the store.

Stop 5

Before traveling into the areas mentioned as our main points of attractions we tour the historical former French and now British city of Basseterre and the countryside. In the process a narration of our history, culture parliamentary system and more is given of every landmark we pass by. This includes our picidilli circus, independence square, the war memorial, our historical churches and where evidence of our rich African heritage is evident. We then travel westward of the island while observing and learning of the island.
