The tour will start from Zuglio, a small town in the province of Udine, a stone's throw from Tolmezzo, in the heart of the splendid scenery of the Carnic Alps. This pretty village, nestled in the But Valley, is famous for being the ancient Iulium Carnicum, the northernmost Roman city in Italy, founded between 58 and 49 BC.

You will travel along a part of the ancient Via Romea Iulia Augusta, which begins at the Monte Croce Carnico pass (Plöckenpass) and separates Italy from Austria, in particular from the province of East Tyrol. Specifically, the stretch from Zuglio to Cleulis, a beautiful mountain village.
