Spend half a day with us in our famously beautiful village, where you can get a real slice of countryside life that you can’t get at any tourist spot, with exclusive experiences.
On this tour we’ll show you around our village, home and property, have a traditional green tea ceremony (different from the usual matcha ceremony), enjoy local sweets, teach you how to make our local specialty (called gohei mochi), and walk to our local waterfalls (one of Japan’s top 100).
Grilled over charcoal, gohei mochi is a delicious savoury and sweet miso-flavored treat that we love to make with guests. On the tour, we’ll show you how to make our village’s version, and enjoy them with a view as a light lunch.
The green tea ceremony is elegant and precise, but unlike matcha ceremonies, it's easy for visitors to join, and you’ll be able to taste the range of flavors that can come from Japanese green tea. We’ll enjoy the tea with some local sweets.
On the tour we visit this waterfall, and our village for all other activities, which is located nearby (about 1km away, we will walk to the waterfalls from our house in good weather). As the village is all private property, there are no listings for its attractions, so please see the description for more.
On this tour we start with a roughly 1 hour tour around our house, land, farm and village. Then we will have a green-tea ceremony at our house with local sweets for about an hour. Then we walk to Atera Seven Waterfalls (one hour), and finally make gohei-mochi over a charcoal fire at our house (one hour).
We meet at Yuyaonsen Station carpark, and lead you with our car to our village (roughly 20 minutes drive into the mountains).
