Stop 8

A writers' retreat, Monserrate attracted countless foreign travelers, especially English, who extolled its beauty in travel reports and engravings. When Francis Cook, a wealthy 19th-century English industrialist and major art collector, visited the site, he was fascinated. From this passion, it was born a masterpiece of Romanticism: the Park and Palace of Monserrate.

10

A beach measuring approximately 250 meters that has a sea very propitious to the practice of surfing due to its very strong waves. Several commercial establishments have been set up, from restaurants to cafes and bars, as well as local craft houses, transforming the bach as a meeting point for people from Sintra, who enjoy their terraces and excellent food.
Additionally, another attraction of this area is the famous tram ride that connects the center of Sintra village and ends at the seaside, at Praia das Maçãs.

A former fishing village, in recent decades it has become a peaceful vacation spot and a place of inspiration for many painters.
This beach, of only thirty meters wide, is so small that it practically disappears at high tide. However, its splendid landscape, with white houses perched on the cliffs overlooking the sea, became a must see tourist destination for anyone visiting the Sintra region.
