Her Majesty's Prison in Saint Kitts, built in 1840 and originally designed for 82 inmates, held approximately 320 inmates, including pretrial detainees confined with convicted prisoners. Most prisoners had beds, although some slept on blankets on the floor.

ST. GEORGE’S ANGLICAN CHURCH is the largest church in Basseterre. It stands at the head of Church Street and resembles an English parish church in style. The outer walls are of heavy andesite rock and the roof is covered in slate. Like many of the buildings in Basseterre this church has had its ups and downs, often rising from ashes like the mythical Phoenix.

GOVERNMENT HEADQUARTERS is located on Church Street and occupies the land on which the Newstead and the Waterloo buildings as well as some smaller private residences once stood. In the late 19th century the lower western corner of Church and Central Street was dominated by an impressive building known as the Newstead Hotel.

Captain Sir Thomas Warner's Tomb, Middle Island, St. Kitts, West Indies. Thomas Warner died on March 10, 1649, in St. Kitts. His tomb and that of Samuel Jefferson (great-great grandfather of Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States) were originally situated inside the original St. Thomas' Anglican Church.
