The adventure is suitable for all ages, be aware – some streets are older, making it a little harder to traverse for people with mobility problems. The Discovery Trip will take about 90 minutes to complete.
The trip will stop at the original City Hall of Gouda. The City Hall was built in 1459 and used till 2012 for meetings. Nowadays, it is used as a wedding location.
During the trip, you will stop by The Sint-Janskerk. This church is one of the oldest and most prominent churches in Gouda. Currently, the church is part of the biggest museum in the Netherlands.
You will cross the Willem Vroesentuin. This city park near the Sint Janskerk used to be the graveyard for the people of Gouda. Afterward, it was changed into a city park for the old man's home across the street.
You will visit the old orphanages of Gouda, which were located in the inner city. Nowadays, it is a luxury restaurant and hotel.
You will viisti the Houtmansplantsoen monument. This monument is located in the middle of the Houtmansplantsoen, a city park on the outskirts of Gouda's inner city. During your visit, you will learn to whom this moment is dedicated.
You will visit the windmill 't Slot. This windmill was built in 1832 and is located in the inner city of Gouda. The location used to be the location of the Castle that defended the city and the river the Gouwe.
One of the location of the trip is the visbanken. The visbanken used to be the place where the people of Gouda got their fish back in the 16th centuries.
You will pass the turfmarkt with the Admiraalshuis, trappenbrug and vrouwebrug. The water in the canals can reach so high that you almost walk on water as the water levels can go 5 cm below street level!
