Burabay is a national park located 2.5 hours drive from Astana. It is known for its beautiful crystal blue lakes, pine forest, and green mountains. By driving 270 km or 2.5 hours, you can reach a park area with 14 large lakes and several smaller ones. You can take a stroll among fir trees and unique rock formations, visit the historical meadow of Abylai Khan, go horseback riding in the forest, and hike to Bolektau Mountain for breathtaking views.

Mt Bolektau is a short, easy ascent that takes around half an hour and still gives you good views of both Lake Burabay and Lake Bolshoe Chebachie to its north. The track leads up to the right just before the Km 4 post heading west from Burabay town.
