About this experience

This unique, customised, and family friendly tour is the only one being offered in St. Kitts that takes in the Wingfield Estate and rustic St Kitts by train. Our tour is approximately three hours duration in air conditioned comfort. The first leg of our tour will be by bus from downtown Basseterre as we View the Egret birds that dates back 400 years. You have the opportunity to stop the bus at any time along the way for photo taking. Your knowledgeable on board tour guide will provide expert commentary on historic Basseterre, Capital of St. Kitts and its environs. We drive pass the Wingfield Estate , where ruins of the old Estate and what the archaeologists have unearthed . Your journey then continues by bus to the La Vallée Train Depot for a ninety minute scenic railway ride along a line that once transported sugar cane down the coastline of St. Kitts. Enjoy the quaint and picturesque beauty of St. Kitts. Then it's back to the point of departure, Basseterre.

Take an epic journey which begins at 10:00 am in air conditioned comfort from Basseterre the Capital of St. Kitts along the West coast of the island by bus with wide windows for your viewing pleasure.  Learn more about the rich heritage of the Mother Colony of the Caribbean, St. Kitts. Discover more about our own Barbie, the Kalinago princess who sold out her people to the British and the French armies. See our historic eighteenth century churches, and the final resting place of Sir Thomas Warner and Samuel Jefferson,  ancestor of the third President of the United States,Thomas Jefferson. 

Drive through the parishes of Trinity to the home of Wingfield Estate in Old Road. For 30 minutes you can explore the ruins of this  plantation house, thought to be the oldest in the eastern Caribbean. See the old run distillery recently unearthed in an archaeological dig. You will also be at the perimeter of the Rainforest so you can enjoy verdant and magnificent flora and fauna. 

Our journey continues by bus through the parishes of St. Thomas to the St. Thomas Anglican Church, where you will find the tombs of Sir Thomas Warner who was the first European to land on St Kitts in 1624 and Samuel Jefferson who was the great great great grandfather of Thomas Jefferson the third President of the United States. See Brimstone Hill which rises to 800 feet above sea level, and was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999. The Brimstone Hill National Fortress sits in magnificent splendour on top of this Hill and was over one hundred years in the making by slaves.

Then, travel on this unique trek on the St. Kitts Scenic Railway from LA Vallée along the northern and western parishes of Newton Ground,  Parsons,  Saddlers, Tabernacle and Cayon. For ninety minutes, you will learn about the island's flora, fauna and folklore from an experienced on board tour guide. Unlimited drinks will be served on board. Finally, your transportation will take you from the Train Depot in Conaree to the agreed drop off point in Basseterre.
