The Temple or Sanctuary of Apollo is one of the oldest buildings in Pompeii, probably constructed under the influence of populations of Greek or Etruscan origin who settled here before the Romans.
Before the earthquake in 62 AD, Pompeii was a city flush with water, with at least 40 public fountains distributed roughly every 80 meters, several public and private spa sites, and numerous domus and businesses served by running water from the Serino Aqueduct.
You should know that the Romans had absorbed from Greek culture a great passion for theatre, especially for two genres: tragedy and comedy.
For this reason, a large semi-circular structure was built in Pompeii as early as the second century BC, now identified as the Grand Theatre, which was enlarged and modified over the following centuries until it could hold as many as 5,000 people.
The House of Menander is one of the best preserved and largest domus in Pompeii, with almost 1,800 square meters of floor space.
Scholars believe that its owner, Quintus Poppaeus Sabinus, was related to Emperor Nero's second wife, Poppaea Sabina, and that he also owned the domus in Pompeii now known as the House of the Golden Cupids.
It is not necessary to start from this exact point.
