The Basilica of the Archdiocesan Archdiocesan Cathedral of Santa Maria la Antigua is a Catholic church located in the old city of Panama City, Panama. It was consecrated in 1796, although construction work began in 1688, 108 years earlier. It was designed by military engineer Nicolás Rodríguez.

Panama declared independence from Colombia in Plaza de la independencia (Independence Square, also known as Plaza Mayor or Cathedral Plaza) on November 3, 1903.
