Neo-Manueline and Romantic Revival Palace from the late 19th century, featuring eclectic architecture and scenography designed by Luigi Manini, including the famous Initiation Well, the Waterfall, lakes, and labyrinthine grottoes, reflecting the unique perspective of its owner, Augusto Carvalho, a scholar of ancient languages, collector of rare books, sacred art, and much more!

PS : The visit takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, but it may take longer as this is the second most visited monument in Sintra.

Visit the Church of San Pedro DE Canaferim (free entry), now presented as an interpretation center showcasing elements of the old Islamic neighborhood and artifacts discovered during archaeological excavations between 2009 and 2013, revealing the presence of Neolithic civilization from the 5th millennium BC.

Born from a 16th-century monastery, it represents the dream of King Ferdinand II, the Artist King and Romanticism pioneer. Enchanted by the Sintra Mountains’ microclimate and granite rocks, he purchased the monastery in 1838 and rebuilt it as a palace, showcasing Hispano-Islamic, Indo-Islamic, and Manueline styles.
