Famagusta is located on the north east coast of Cyprus..It was first named 'Arsinoe' than, 'Ammohostos' in Greek and 'Famagusta' in English. It was ruled by many civilizations for centuries. The rich history lies within the walls which surround this Medieval city.
St. Nicholas Cathedral, Venetian Palace, the Church of Latins are some of the most important sites that we'll visit today. A short walk in Varosha is also in our program. This place has been abandoned for 46 years. Why is it called Ghost Town?

Today we start the day by driving to Kyrenia and visiting one of the nicest historical sights at the area. Gothic abbey was a Lusignan foundation for Augustinian canons. It is one of the nicest Monasteries in Middle East which is built on the slopes of Kyrenia Mountains. It was used as a Monastery until the 16th century when Ottomans came to the island.
The Monastery is located at the Bellapais village which is one of the unique villages of the area. Lawrence Durell had also lived in the village which he wrote his book ' The Bitter Lemons of Cyprus'. After the visit of the Monastery will have a short walk in this beautiful village.
After driving from Kyrenia to Famagusta our stop will be at the St. Barnabas Monastery. Barnabas has very important role in Christianity. The Tomb of Barnabas and the icon museum will be visited while you get to listen to its history. The place was in use until 1974. A lot to be told about while you visit the place.
