On the port we’ll have our first food stop for shellfish fans; it's time to taste mussels, oysters with lemon.
Our second stop will be a visit to the main Moulay Hassan square, the entrance to the Kasbah and the Medina with a small stop next to the fish grilling cabins.
Afterwards we will take the direction to arrive at the second scala of the kasbah with its beautiful extraordinary view over the roofs of the old houses of the city and the purpural islands. on our way we will have our second stop to taste Moroccan pastries and especially (the horns of gazelles) in one of the old pastry houses dating from the twenties of the previous century (1928), whose boss was Maalem DRISS. After the visit of scala, we move towards the Jewish quarter (the mellah), on the path we discover the small alleys and dead ends with old doors, before arriving at the mellah we will discover one of the local crafts: marquetry cedar wood.
The artists ’specialty wood is from the Thuya tree, a highly prized wood with a delicious perfume and found only in this part of Morocco. Afterwards, we will have our third stop to taste Moroccan crepes purely Moroccan specialty, to be taken with mint tea in the afternoon, after the third prayer.
After visiting the mellah and the old houses still carrying the star of david, we will discover the local markets: meats, olives, so we will have our fourth stop to taste candied olives with spicy sauce (harrissa) one of the secrets of Moroccan cuisine, and we will also visit the vegetable market where we will have the opportunity to taste some seasonal fruits.
After visiting the markets, we will discover the center of the medina or rather its heart, we will discover the fish market, where we can buy fish and grill it, after we will visit the grain square, also known as foundouk (hotel) for the caravans coming from tombouctou for the trade on the port of essaouira in the 18th century.
