Upon pick up at 7:30 a.m, you will head for Terracotta Army and Horses Museum. About 50 mins’ drive, you will be there and appreciate the great formation. It is praised as the eighth wonder in the world and also has been listed in the world UNESCO heritage site, which makes it a must-see in Xian.
This museum is built right on the site of Qin Shi Huang’s mausoleum, who was the very first emperor in Chinese history. He united the whole China for the first time and after his death, he demanded to built such a grand tomb. You will see the site is composed of three pits mainly, in which the Pit 1 and Pit 2 contain the majority of the excavations. There are altogether about 8000 soldiers, each with distinct facial expressions. Based on their position and posture, you can see their rank in the army. There are bronze horses and carts available, which were minimized based on the real ones in proportion. You may also see the Qin Dynasty weapons like swords, spear, bow and arrow, etc..
After lunch, you will have a visit to the Ancient City Wall. It’s the best preserved City Wall in China and it has been standing there for over 600 years to protect this great city. The whole city is about 41km long, covering four grand gates. Under your guide’s instruction, you will learn a lot about its history and function in a battle. Nowadays, it’s just a great place for locals to ride bikes and stroll. Your guide would be happy to help you rent bikes if you like.
In the last, you will leave for Muslim Quarter, one of the most famous food street in China. As the name indicates, this is a neighborhood for Muslims, which means all the food sold here all excluded pork. Please do not mention any pork or related things. You will find yourselves inside a bustling environment with people shouting out to sell goods. You are most welcome to try a few local snacks. Meanwhile, you will see some giftshops where traditional artificial works are available. Strolling in such a busy place would be quite interesting.
