5:00 am, depart from Ho Chi Minh City for a 3 - hour drive to the Mekong Delta. Leaving the bustling city behind, the scenery changes to views of rice paddies, beautiful orchards by the side of the road.
8:00 am, arrive at Can Tho city - the capital of the Southwest, start the day with a visit to Cai Rang Floating Market. While crossing the Mekong River, observe the daily activities of local people on the banks, see traditional - style houses in which the local people live as well as beautiful orchards, busy ships - building yards and bustling markets where they make their livelihood.
Having breakfast and coffee on the floating market. It is a wonderful experience when you can enjoy a delicious countrified breakfast, along with an unsteady feeling whenever the waves hit the side of the boat that will make you feel excited.
After that, tour guide takes you to some traditional workshops. You have a great time learning how locals make “Hu Tieu” (rice vermicelli). They are soft, flat, slippery and slightly chewy. Then, the boat carries you to another place to enjoy pineapple (known as the queen of fruits) that is fresh and delicious. The seller will peel the pineapple on the spot for you to enjoy right on the boat.
10:00 am, after paying a visit to the colorful floating market check-out and disembark before exploring My Tho - Ben Tre Province
11:30 pm, upon arrival in My Tho City, embark on a motor boat to take a leisurely cruise on the Mekong River to Ben Tre Province - a coconut fruit king dom.
Hop on a horse cart/Lambro motor - tricycle for special lunch which was once the iconic vehicle and main means of transportation in South Vietnam (dating back to 1960s).
12:30 pm, have a lunch at restaurant such as: deep fried elephant ear fish, sticky rice ball, hot pot etc. After lunch, relax on hammocks or cycling around village to see what local life is like.
Board motorboat again to go to a coconut candy workshop, learn how to make it and try sweet candies.
Move to bee farm, sip a cup of delicious honey tea with kumquat from bee farm where thousands of honey bees taking honey from longan flowers
Rowed boat, go through hidden maze of small water palm trees draped canals.
Next, enjoy melody of traditional folk music which is an indispensable spiritual cultural activity in Mekong Delta people’s lives and officially recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity while tasting some tropical fruits.
4:00 pm, back on board, the motorboat will cruise back to the pier before returning to Ho Chi Minh City.
