About this experience

This is a "must-do" Kathmandu adventure! Prepare for the most impressive panoramic view of the snow-capped Himalayas on this ride aboard the famous Chandragiri Cable Car.

Opened in 2016, this modern, Swiss-engineered cable car takes you on a thrilling 10-minute journey, gliding high above the jungle to the 2,551m (8,369 ft) summit of Chandragiri Hill.

The reward at the top is a breathtaking, 180-degree vista of the entire Himalayan range, from the Annapurna peaks all the way to Mount Everest on a clear day.

But the view is just the beginning. At the summit, you can also visit the sacred Bhaleshwor Mahadev Temple, a major pilgrimage site. When you're ready to relax, enjoy lunch (at your own expense) at the excellent hilltop restaurant, which offers what is easily one of the world's most spectacular dining views.

This is an unforgettable, world-class experience, offering a Himalayan panorama without a day of trekking.

Detailed itinerary

1

We pick up from your hotel inside the ring road and the Bouddha area. We suggest going early for a better view.

2

This is a truly amazing trip as you ride effortlessly to the top of Chandragiri Hill (Elev. 2520 m). The trip will start as you travel from your hotel by private vehicle. The cable car starts at 8.00 am in the morning and closed at about 5.00 pm daily. The ride to the top takes just 10 minutes of truly breath-taking scenery as your gondola rises above the dense jungle below. As you climb higher, the mountain ranges become more and more visible.

On top of Chandragiri Hill, walk around and enjoy the magnificent view. Here you will find the Bhaleshwor Mahadev Temple, a sacred Hindu pilgrimage site that honors Sati Devi, the first wife of Lord Shiva.

Enjoy a delicious lunch at one of the finest restaurants in all of Kathmandu (meals are not included in the price). The food is excellent and the scenery is outstanding. Finally, return to your private car by cable car, traveling down the mountain before taking the short 30-minute ride back to your hotel.

3

An enraged Shiva carried Satidevi dead body on his back and walked across the world like a madman for a long span of time, without taking note of Satidevi’s decaying body. Bhaleshwor Mahadev appeared at the spot where Satidevi’s ‘Bhala’ or the forehead fell off from her dead body then this temple call Bhaleshwor Mahadev.
