This tour is a great way to learn about Valencian culture, agriculture, and it combines an experience of both the seaside and countryside.
Participants receive a guided tour of the Port of Valencia, including the historical maritime buildings, contemporary artwork. They will learn about the history of the port, including the America's Cup and ride on the Formula 1 circuit.
We ride the full length of Malvarrossa beach, enjoying views of the Mediterranean sea and palm trees. Participants will learn about Cabanyal neighbourhood, restaurants and the art nouveau buildings on the seafront.
Beginning at the Fisherman's Chapel by the sea we follow a man-made river inland. Participants will be able to observe a wide variety of wildlife, in particular birds such as kingfishers, before stopping to view typical Valencian farmhouses, known as Barracas.
Participants will ride through the fertile farmland and will learn about typical local crops, including tigernuts which is the ingredient of the horchata. These few fields are the only place in all of Spain where tigernuts are grown. We visit a typical Valencian village.
We ride back to the seafront and walk around Port Saplaya, Valencia's little Venice, before stopping at a popular horchateria to enjoy a complementary horchata, a typical Valencian soft drink. Participants can try raw tigernuts. From here we ride 7 kms back along the beach to the BikeAlao shop.
