Detailed itinerary

1

After morning pickup from your hotel lobby in Khajuraho, you'll drive a distance of roughly 106 miles (172 km) to Orchha in the comfort of a private vehicle. On arrival in the historic village set among the hills, admire a valley formed by the crystal-clear waters of the Betwa River.

2

On a seasonal island on the bank of the Betwa River, which has been surrounded by a battlement wall, stands a huge palace-fort. The fort consists of several connected buildings erected at different times, the most noteworthy of which is the Raja Mahal. The Jahangir Mahal built on a rectangular base and is relieved by a circular tower at each corner surmounted by a dome is the marvel even today. The stunning beauty of the city is characterized by delicate chhatris (elevated pavilions) and intricate trellis work. Also get a look at the two-story brick palace of Rai Praveen Mahal, built in remembrance of a 16th-century poet and musician. You may become awestruck upon seeing the prismatic light of sun rays slipping through skillfully carved recesses in the main hall and other chambers.

3

Visit Chaturbhuj Temple; decorated with various symbols of religious significance, this majestic temple is mounted upon a giant stone platform and reached via steep stairs. Admire the subtle ornamentation of the exterior and step foot inside to see the high, vaulted walls that imbue a sense of sanctity and peace of mind. Spend some free time to walk around (perfectly safe) and soak up the blissful vibe of this beautiful historic cum religious hidden village. The atmosphere in Orchha is far more laid-back and hassle-free than in northern Madhya Pradesh's other famed monument village, Khajuraho, making for a relaxed stay. Chose out of multiple options for lunch (on your own expense). Your personal local guide will be delighted to help finding the correct option to suite your taste buds.

After your tour, you will be dropped off at your hotel in Khajuraho or at the Jhansi Railway Station by your chauffeur.
