Start the tour after finding your guide and at the meeting point in Khajuraho. Board the coach to begin with the most expensive experience of lifetime. The drive to Panna mines may take two hours. Panna is beautiful town located in Madhya Pradesh, is the biggest center of diamond mining in India.

The tour to Panna mines will take you to those areas of the town that are the store houses of the diamond. These mines are laid across on an area of 80 kilometer belt, starting from the Paharikhera North-East to Majhgawan South-West with breadth of around 30 kilometers. Following the Australian method, here too the diamonds occur in a pipe of olivine lamproite. The grade of the diamonds varies from 13 carets per thousand hectares to 6 carets per thousand hectares. Watching the diamonds being picked is a marvellous experience. The ores being crushed, screened and jiggled and then the concentrate being spread on the secure ground and then the diamonds are handpicked. This is indeed the simple way that produces the world's most expensive gem.

Also visit the natural crater-cum-waterfall of Brihaspati kund to witness the extravagant beauty of mother earth. Brihaspati kund is famous among locals and fairs are often organised here. This place has its evidence in old Hindu epics by which it got its name. Some Neolithic rock paintings are also can be seen which is a proof of continuous human existence at this place. Enjoy the packed picnic lunch and free time for photography. On the way back you will stop at Panna city to see and learn more about the diamond cutting its identification secrets and how the simple shining stone becomes the most expensive gem on your beautiful figure or neck. Drive back to Khajuraho with wonderful memories. The tour finishes at the same point where it starts.
