This is not a guided tour. The experience includes an aperitif in the underground caves and the entrance fee.
Option 1: Morning
Visiting the caves you can discover and appreciate all of the different eras that characterize the underground of Orvieto.
Visitors will travel through history and down to a depth of almost 20 meters below street level, taking a trip back in time. In the lowest level of the caves you can admire a river bed with a petrified plant fossil from about 250,000 years ago.
It was most likely carried by lava from the volcanic eruption of the ancient volcano where now sits the famous Bolsena lake.
The discovery of Rita and Adriano has become one of the most important and appreciated historical testimonies to the heritage and archaeology of Orvieto.
The aperitif includes savoury specialities and pastries and our red and white wine from the restaurant Il Labirinto.
