This tour will fascinate you, in which you will enjoy all the nature and wildlife of the Paraguay and Manduvira rivers. Wetlands, riverbanks, but also small patches of forest will impress you with the great fauna all around you. We will also enjoy a great diversity of ecosystems such as palm savannas, forests, and grasslands, during a 10 km drive on a dirt road in which we will watch a good number of birds and other animals.

Enjoy a nature and birding tour on the Paraguay and Manduvira river, just 50 km from Asunción. We will go to the Puerto Olivares farm, on a private car (about 1 hour and 15min drive). As soon as we get to the farm, we will start birdwatching. From the first gate of the farm, we will enjoy an incredible number of forest and savannas birds, including Savanna Hawks, Toco Toucan, different species of Parakeets, Woodpeckers and many others.
Once we arrive at the Manduvira River, we will have a short walk in the monkeys trails to observe mammals including Black-and-Golden Howler Monkey and Azaras Capuchin Monkey. Then, we will have enjoy a boat ride through the river, where we will find a large number of waterbirds, including different species of herons, storks, sandpipers, terns, kingfishers. We will also observe several birds of prey, probably seedeaters (depending on the time of year), as well as some of the aquatic mammals such as neotropical or giant otters, or even caimans. We will also enjoy a beautiful sunset, giving you the opportunity to capture unique moments with your cameras with the incredible nature that offers the Paraguay river.
The rest of the Tour will refer to the round trip to this beautiful natural wonder, where we may add more nocturnal mammals or birds during the 10 km of dirt road inside the farm, until we get to the route to return to Asunción.
