Landmannalaugar is a remote and rugged volcanic landscape of orange & cream (rhyolite), blue and green mountains. Sitting atop the Mid Atlantic Ridge, natural hot springs abound.

We first drive around the base of Hekla, one of the most active volcanoes in Europe. The route then takes us through captivating, contorted lava flows that have emerged from a myriad of different craters and fissures.

After a Laugarhraun lava field hike, delicious hot spring bathing offers a uniquely pleasurable experience. Remember to bring your swimwear if you want to take a dip in the natural hot spring.

Please bring with you clothes according to weather forecast (try to avoid cotton and jeans).

Hiking Boots (preferably of waterproof material, Gore-Tex or alternative)


Long sleeve shirt (thermal underwear, wool or synthetic)


Light wool/fleece sweater (2nd layer)


Trousers (2nd layer, strong and light material that dries quickly. Wind resistant and water repelling preferable)


Rain Jacket/anorak with hood (waterproof and breathable material. Gore-Tex or equivalents are preferable)


Rain trousers (waterproof and breathable material)


Liner Gloves (wool or synthetic. One or two pairs)


Hat or Balaclava (wool or synthetic)


Sunglasses


Swimwear and towel

Food and drinks are not provided on our tours (unless you booked lunch boxes) so please bring with you:

Lunch bag - Sandwiches, biscuits, power-bars etc. Water - 1-2 Liters of water and/or sport drink.
