Odori Park is an oasis in an office district surrounded by 92 species of lilacs, haru elms, and other 4,700 trees. Visitors and residents alike enjoy relaxing on the lawn and around the fountain. Odori Park is actually a road, although it is called a park. 1871 (Meiji 4), a firebreak line dividing the center of Sapporo from north to south was built, which became a road called Goshidori, and the name was changed to Odori. Normally a place of relaxation and recreation, it is also the site of some of Hokkaido's most famous events.

Stretching from east to west, Odori Park is divided into 12 blocks from 1-chome to 12-chome, each block separated by a pedestrian crossing. The distance from one end of Odori Park to the other is about 1.5 km, and it takes about 30 minutes to walk.
