Lindos is most famous for its Acropolis and the ancient monuments at its summit but also for its Byzantine and medieval history and ruins. Its stunning beaches and narrow village laneways are part of what makes up Lindos’s famed beauty as a Greek island holiday destination.
Lindos is among the island’s most famous villages, and is renowned for its famous Acropolis. At a height of 535 feet, the Acropolis offers breathtaking views and photo opportunities of the entire village, including its Medieval castle, superb sandy beaches and charming white-washed, sugar-cubed houses.
During your visit, you will take a walking tour through the labyrinth of narrow cobbled streets, and past the colorful courtyards and mosaics for which Lindos is famous.
Ancient Lindos was the most important town on the island, and has been nhabited for 5,000 years. The Acropolis is home to the ruins of a Byzantine fort and a Greek temple from centuries before.
