The land where it is built was the place where Nossa Senhora de Fátima appeared to the three little shepherds (Lucia, Francisco and Joana) in 1917, and where 5 of her 6 apparitions took place. In this place, the invitation is to let yourself feel the peace that emanates here.

The Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória, better known as the Batalha Monastery, was ordered built by King D.João I of Portugal as a way to thank the Virgin Mary for the victory against the Castilians in the battle of Aljubarrota, which secured the throne and guaranteed Portugal's independence. The National Monument, considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and elected as one of the 7 wonders of Portugal, promises to enchant not only by the Gothic, Manueline and Baroque architecture that characterizes it, but also by the history that serves as the basis of its construction.

It is from this sea that the fishermen arrive with nets laden with fish and shellfish that are directly forwarded to the local restaurants and squares. It is, therefore, the ideal place to savor the quality and texture of a seafood and fresh fish meal. Once lunch is over and the energy is restored, it is time to visit the famous Praia do Norte, which became the icon of this town after McNamara surfed, in 2011, the largest wave in the world, with about 30 meters high. Currently, the "Canhões of Nazaré" and its beaches host the world giant wave championship, the Nazaré Tow Surfing Challenge.
Time includes the driving time from Batalha to Nazaré, which is about 35 minutes. And the lunch time at a local restaurante for 90 minutes.
On our way back to Lisbon, there is still time for one more stop. This time in the medieval town of Óbidos, a city built inside a medieval castle.
Within its walls, the streets and white houses with Manueline doors, flowered windows and small alleys will transport you to an enchanted parallel universe. Get to know its history. When you leave, don't forget to visit the local stores and, who knows, buy some souvenirs.
Time includes the driving time the travelling back to Lisbon, which is about 1h and 10 minutes.
