Detailed itinerary

Stop 1

The Inner Courtyard: It is hard to believe that this magnificent courtyard once hosted the horse stables and the kitchen. Let’s travel back in time to know the Knights Hospitallers secured their residence and why the statues of Roman senators adorn the location. Have a closer look at the contemporary restoration and discover what went wrong.

The Room with the Ribbed Vault: Decorated with an early mosaic pavement decorated with birds, trees and vases originated from Kos and equipped with 16th-century furniture, the room used to be the office of Cesare Maria De Vecchi. De Vecchi was the one who conceived the program of restoration of the glory of the Knights Hospitallers. This humble room became the siege of the powerful De Vecchi. Listen to our stories in order to learn how the architect Vittorio Mesturino restored the grandeur of the Palace and the fame of the knights.

The Room with the Nine Muses: The most beautiful room of the Palace which is decorated with the nine muses.
