About this experience

Welcome to your day on Santiago, the largest island in Cape Verde! This is Don, your English-speaking guide who has been living here for four years. Together, we will spend a day exploring this volcanic island with its bizarre rock formations: from Praia, we will head to the 800-year-old Poilão tree, which is 30 metres thick. From there, we will descend via the imposing mountain range of the Serra da Malagueta Nature Park to Tarrafal. In this small tourist town, we will walk along what is by far the most beautiful beach in Cape Verde. Alternatively, you can also visit the concentration camp from the colonial era.
The tour ends with a groggu beer and fruit juice tasting, which only we offer exclusively!
Our co-guide Walter speaks English, French and Portuguese. In Cape Verde, the motto is: No stress! Get on board... enjoy... take 1000 photos... tell others about it. This tour is ideal for cruise passengers, e.g. from MeinSchiff and AIDA.

Detailed itinerary

1

To get into positive vibes, we begin with a short city tour of Praia, the hot and bustling capital of the archipelago.

2

Now we head to the centre of the island, where the 800-year-old, 30-metre-thick Poilão tree (a Ceiba pentandra) awaits us. Be careful not to touch it! It has developed thorns!

3

Our third main stop is the relaxed tourist town of Tarrafal, where you will have the opportunity to stroll along the most beautiful sandy beach in the whole of Cape Verde. Pack your swimwear!

4

The finale is our Groggu tasting, which only we offer! Groggu is the national drink of Cape Verde: a high-proof spirit made from sugar cane! It is also served as punch. In Assomada, you can also taste Igor's home-brewed beer and sip freshly mixed fruit juices. The tasting is, of course, included in the price.
