Detailed itinerary

1

After breakfast get ready for full day excursion to Srisailam – one of the twelve sacred shrines (Jyotirlingas) of Lord Shiva. Your will be driven towards the temple in your own vehicle. Made in honor of Lord Shiva, the Srisailam Temple, also known as Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Temple is a famous attraction of the region. The sanctum enshrines Lord Mallikarjuna in the form of a linga, protected by a three-hooded cobra. Built in Dravidian architectural style, the temple with sprawling courtyards and lofty towers is one of the finest exemplar of the Vijayanagara style of architecture. The combination of the Jyothirlingam and Mahasakthi (in the form of Bhramarambika), both found in one campus make it one of its kind temple. It is also believed that Adi Shankara or Shankara, an early 8th century Indian philosopher and theologian also visited this shrine and composed his immortal Sivananda Lahiri here. According to some inscriptional evidences, it is believed that the temple’s existence dates back to the 2nd century. After the day of exploration, you will be dropped back at the hotel in your private vehicle.
