This tour to Sommarøy offers a scenic and cultural experience that changes with the seasons. In summer you travel in the evening, when the streets are quiet and the midnight sunlight illuminates the Arctic landscapes with golden and silent shades. In winter, however, we leave in the morning to take advantage of the few hours of light and enjoy the colors of the Arctic twilight.
Along the way stories are told about the places crossed, coastal settlements and culture of northern Norway. The tour is designed for those who really want to delve into what they see, and combines the beauty of the fjords with a narrative rich in historical, cultural and personal details.
It is the ideal experience for curious travellers, nature, photography and Arctic culture enthusiasts!
On this tour we will cross Kvaløya, the 'Whale Island', a territory of fjords, mountains, valleys and lakes that offers some of the most spectacular views in the region.
In summer I propose this excursion in the evening, when the warm and soft light of the midnight sun transforms the landscape, painting it with long shadows and golden colors; In winter, however, we will take advantage of the few hours of light available, the so-called "blue hour", which will dye the landscape with the magical shades of dusk.
Along the way, we will not only make several stops to admire the most impressive viewpoints, but I will also tell you about the history and culture of the region : life in Tromsø, the climate, the midnight sun, the polar night, Sami culture and much more. Also, I will be happy to answer any curiosity you may have.
Once we arrive in Sommarøy, the “Island of Summer”, we will have a short scenic tour of the village and some stops, including one of the beautiful white sandy beaches that make this island so enchanting.
