This is more than an art class — it’s a cultural immersion in one of Istanbul’s few active Mevlevi lodges. Learn the traditional Turkish marbling art of Ebru in its authentic setting, guided by Esma Ağca and Özge Güner, graduates of the esteemed Sünbül Efendi Ebrîhanesi, a center of classical marbling education.
You’ll discover the history, tools, and techniques of Ebru, and create your own work using traditional methods passed down through generations. The historic Kasımpaşa Mevlevihanesi offers a rare opportunity to engage with Turkish-Islamic arts in a space where that tradition still lives.
This is the only workshop in Istanbul where you can experience Ebru inside an original Mevlevihane, setting it apart from standard studio-based classes.
Optional: After the session, you’re welcome to attend a Whirling Dervish (Sema) ceremony held in the same venue. Tickets can be purchased separately on site.
The workshop takes place at the historic Kasımpaşa Mevlevihanesi, a historical Sufi dervish lodge located just a 12-minute walk from Galata, Şişhane Metro Station, or İstiklal Street.
A peaceful hidden gem tucked away from the busy city center — easy to reach, yet rich in history and atmosphere.
