My roads Munakata is a chance to escape the city and experience rural life in Fukuoka. Only 20 minutes by train from Hakata Station, this 40km e-bike cycle tour takes you on tranquil country roads following the Sea of Japan coastline thru fishing villages, bird sanctuaries, a heritage site sake brewery and a bustling farmers market before arriving in Okagaki town and a gourmet sushi lunch on the beach.
On the way back we'll stop for coffee and refreshments before finishing up at Miyajidake Shrine, one of the most beautiful and popular Shrines in Kyushu.
Although no longer in production, Toyomura Sake Brewery's 140 year history is now honored as a national heritage site. As we tour the facility you will learn each step in the brewing process dating back to pre-industrial times. Sample souvenir bottles may be purchased at the gift shop if you wish.

Miyajidake Shrine is protected by one of the largest Shimenawa or sacred ropes in all Japan. In the spring the expansive grounds feature fields of iris blossoms and other flowers.
It is also famous for the "Shining Path" when the sun sets over the ocean and aligns with the gates and steps of the shrine to cast the grounds in a golden glow. Late February to early March and mid to late October are the best times of year to witness this spectacle.
