Location. The Lake is situated in the Oromia region of Ethiopia, about 150 km west of Addis Ababa, near Ambo. It is nestled in a volcanic crater at an altitude of around 3,000 meters (9,800 feet) above sea level.

Kocho Preparation in Wenchi Village, Ethiopia
What is Kocho?
Kocho is a thick, slightly sour flatbread made from the pulp of the enset plant (Ensete ventricosum), a drought-resistant plant widely grown in Ethiopia. It is an important staple food, often eaten with kitfo (minced raw meat), ayib (cottage cheese), or gomen (collard greens).
Wenchi Village can experience kocho-making firsthand, from harvesting enset to tasting the final dish, while exploring the natural beauty of the Wenchi Crater Lake.
