Location. The Lake is situated in the Oromia region of Ethiopia, about 150 km west of Addis Ababa, near Ambo. It is nestled in a volcanic crater at an altitude of around 3,000 meters (9,800 feet) above sea level.

Kocho Preparation in Wenchi Village, Ethiopia

What is Kocho?
Kocho is a thick, slightly sour flatbread made from the pulp of the enset plant (Ensete ventricosum), a drought-resistant plant widely grown in Ethiopia. It is an important staple food, often eaten with kitfo (minced raw meat), ayib (cottage cheese), or gomen (collard greens).
