About this experience

Looking for a small-group experience away from mass tourism? Explore Ålesund with Lukas, a passionate local guide who shares insider stories and hidden gems.

We begin at the Fisher Boy sculpture – a tribute to Ålesund’s maritime roots – where you’ll hear about the role of the clipfish trade in shaping the city’s rise.

As we stroll along the waterfront, we’ll uncover Norway’s engineering feats : tunnels, bridges, and the world’s first ship tunnel under construction nearby. You’ll also learn how Norway invested its oil and gas wealth to secure long-term prosperity.

Turning onto Kongens gate, the “King’s Street,” we’ll admire Ålesund’s rich Art Nouveau architecture – a style blending European influences with Norwegian motifs, born from the great fire of 1904. Its elegant façades and intricate details still reflect that creative spirit today.

Our tour ends with a stunning harbor view, where Lukas will share a free brochure with tips to make the most of your stay in Ålesund.
