〇深山和紙工房の見学・体験
伝統の技をつなぎ続ける、深山和紙。深山和紙工房は、江戸時代初期から約400年にわたり受け継がれてきた、日本の伝統技術「和紙」を守り続ける場所です。かつては、上杉藩の御用紙として製造が奨励され、冬の農家の貴重な収入源として、地域の家庭で盛んに和紙漉きが行われていました。しかし、時代の変化とともに需要が減少し、深山和紙は存続の危機に直面しました。そんな中、「この伝統を絶やしてはならない」と、地域住民による深山和紙振興研究センターが設立され、現在では営農部が原料の栽培から製造、加工まで一貫して手掛けています。

(深山和紙の特徴)
・地元産の楮(こうぞ)を使用
深山和紙は、地域住民が栽培する高品質な楮を原料としています。他の地域ではトロロアオイが糊として使われることが多い中、深山和紙では山に自生する「ノリウツギ」という木を使用しています。この植物が生み出す自然の粘性が、深山和紙特有の強度と美しさを支えています。

・薬品を一切使用しない自然な製法
楮を蒸して皮を剥ぎ、漂白や繊維の分離などの工程も、すべて自然の力を活用。化学薬品を一切使用しないため、紙そのものの持つ風合いや温かみがそのまま残ります。特に、冬の寒さを利用した「寒晒し」の工程では、雪の上で原料を漂白することで、不純物が取り除かれ、純白で丈夫な和紙が生まれます。

・職人の技術が生む独特の美しさ
現在、紙漉き職人は高橋恵さんお一人です。20年以上にわたり、地域の伝統技術を守りながら、新しい世代にその魅力を伝え続けています。高橋さんの熟練の手仕事は、和紙一枚一枚に込められた歴史と情熱を感じさせます。

(体験内容)
・和紙の原料を学ぶ
地元で栽培される楮や、深山和紙の製造工程に欠かせない「ノリウツギ」について学びます。これらの素材が生む独特の特性についても、高橋さんから直接説明を受けられます。
・製造工程の説明
楮を蒸して皮を剥ぎ、繊維を叩解(たたいて細かくする作業)し、紙を漉くまでの一連のプロセスを学びます。この製造工程は山形県指定無形文化財に指定されています。職人の手仕事を目の当たりにしながら、伝統技術の奥深さを実感できます。
・オリジナル作品づくり
深山和紙を使用したオリジナルポストカードを制作し、お土産にお持ちかえりいただけます。

農家れすとらん「なごみ庵」での昼食と交流
囲炉裏を囲む、心温まる郷土料理と交流のひととき
「なごみ庵」は、地元の農家であるちえおばあちゃんが営む小さなレストランです。彼女が育てた新鮮な野菜をふんだんに使った料理は、訪れる人々に「地元の味」を届けています。特に、肉を使わない郷土料理はヘルシーで、季節の旬を楽しむことができます。

・ちえおばあちゃんが育てた野菜を使用した手作り料理を囲炉裏で楽しむ。
