Next, explore Raizan Sennyoji Daihiōin, one of the region’s top fall foliage spots. Admire the grand 4-meter tall wooden statue of the Thousand-Armed Kannon and the 500 Rakan statues along the mountain slope. This temple dates back to 742 AD, with many cultural treasures including nationally designated Important Cultural Properties. Then, step into a scene straight out of a Studio Ghibli film. Hidden inside Keya no Ōto Park, this forest trail surrounded by thick coastal brush resembles the mysterious Totoro forest. Soar 234 meters above sea level at Fukuoka Tower, Japan’s tallest seaside tower. With 360° panoramic views from its observation deck at 123 meters, you’ll enjoy stunning cityscapes, Hakata Bay, and even mountain ranges in the distance.
