There are many hot springs in Beppu, and the most famous ones are the eight hells of Beppu, namely, Sea Hell, Onishiibozu Hell, Mountain Hell, Cooking Pot Hell, Oniyama Hell, White Pond Hell, Blood Pond Hell, and Tatsumaki Hell.The Cooking Pot Hell is one of them. It is said that a long time ago, the temperature of hell was used to make sacrificial food at the spring and autumn festivals of the Kamado Hachiman Shrine, and this is how the custom began to call it "Kamado (Cooking Pot) Hell"
