Hyderabad, the city of the Nizams, is the capital of the South Indian state of Telangana. The 12th century Golconda Fort is situated on the top of a hill, seven miles from Hyderabad. This sprawling fort complex contains some splendid ruins of palaces and mosques. It is said that the fort remained impregnable throughout its history. You will be picked up from your hotel in the evening and driven to the historic Golconda Fort that sits on top of a hill just outside Hyderabad.
The fort served as the capital of several dynasties - the Kakatiya dynasty between the 12th and 13th century, the Bahmani dynasty followed by the Qutub Shahi dynasty in the 16th and 17th century. The fort remained impregnable throughout its history except when it was conquered by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in 1686 after a nine-month siege. Even then, it was conquered due to a traitor who opened the main gate to the enemy.
The show lasts for over an hour and features the voice of the Bollywood star, Amitabh Bachchan and music by well known Indian performers.
After the show, enjoy dinner (own expense) at a local restaurant. After dinner you will be dropped back at your hotel.
