About this experience

Route 1 Introduction:
In the past, most GZ wealthy ladies and gentlemen lived in two areas respectively, called Xiguan and Dongshan. This tour will have deep visit in Xiguan, where you will see traditional handicraft and Guangdong Opera, visit local market, experience local seniors’ daily entertainments, and understand the traditional architecture, with delicious and interesting food along the way.

Route 2 Introduction:
This tour will have deep visit in Dongshan and its surroundings, where you will see how the tradition is combined with modern, including Buddhism Temple; houses from the republic of China era being turned into fashion stores; and the Guangzhou Tower. We will also take a walk or do some cycling along the Pearl River. There is still plenty of local food waiting for you along the way, like chicken stew, double skin milk, beef hotpot etc.

Pick up service: It only includes airport or hotel pick up. The price is only for one way not round trip. And no city tour service.

Stop 1

Route 1 First stop : Chen Clan Academy (Guangdong Folk Arts Museums)
It was an ancestral hall for people with surname of Chen and used for sacrifice and study. Now it become a museum with Guangdong traditional folk arts, including wood carving, brick carving, stone carving, pottery sculpture, clay sculpture, copper and ironic foundry product, and painting. This is one of the reflections of ancient Chinese excellent handicraft technic.

Route 1 Second stop: Local Market and food
There is a local market with many stalls and food just 100meters away from Chen Clan Academy. This might not be the destination most tourists will visit, but it is the best way to see how the local life is, like what people are eating or buying in their daily life. We can also try some local food here like Steamed Vermicelli Roll, Boat Congee, Deep-fried Dough Sticks etc.

Route 1 Third stop: Liwan Lake Park
After retirement, many seniors will have some entertainment with their friends in parks like dancing, playing mahjong, kick shuttlecock etc. If you are an outgoing guy, you can join them and they will feel very happy to have fun with a foreign visitor!

Route 1 Forth stop: Yongqing Square
In this area, there were many old buildings called arcades, where you could hang around in an admirably cool conditions even in an extremely hot weather. However, with time passed, these old buildings had been in disrepair. In recent years, a part of arcades have been renovated and many interesting stores have been introduced here, which is a masterpiece of GZ urban renewal project. Here we can watch Guangdong Opera, see how the actors put on makeup, try to make yourself a ceramic, visit the home of Bruce Lee and do some shopping or grab something to eat.

Route 1 Fifth stop: Traditional Tea Houses
Coming out from the Yongqing Square, we will soon arrive some traditional tea houses. Here you can try many hand-made dim sum like Shrimp Ravioli, Shao Mai, Fried Rice Ball and many other interesting and very tasty food. This is a must-do for visitors from other provinces in China. I am sure you will feel curious and impressive in this stop!

Route 2 First stop : Beijing Road
This is a shopping street where you can purchase different kinds of clothing. Besides, we can also try Cheongsam here, visit an ancient road in thousand yeas olds and a Buddhism Temple.

Route 2 Second stop : Area Around Peasant Movement Institute
Turning right at the end of Beijing Road, we will enter Peasant Movement Institute area. Here we will meet many interesting cuisines, like chicken hotpot mixed with durian, chicken stew with abalones, coconut chicken hotpot, beef hotpot, double-skin milk, Mango smoothie, ginger milk……There are numerous choices!

Route 2 Third stop: Dongshan Kou
It was used to be a residential place for people with political power. Therefore, there are many beautiful houses here, especially those in western style. Nowadays, it has become a popular fashion place, with hipsters, cool clothing store and cafes. We can take a rest here with a cup of coffee or green tea, seeing hipsters coming and going; we can also try a bowl of Wonton Noodles which is filled with shrimp and pork or a piece of Xiaolongbao which filled with crab meat……

Route 2 Forth stop: Guangzhou Tower
We will arrive Huachenghui firstly, the central axis of Guangzhou, where many large companies’ headquarters or branches are located here. We will take a small walk here, enjoying those modern architectures like Guangzhou library. Guangdong Museum, Guangzhou Opera House and the Haixin Bridge. But the most important thing is, you will be face to face with Guangzhou Tower here, and take a picture with this beautiful curve.
If you are a person that loves adventure, it is recommended to try those exciting activities at the top of Guangzhou Tower. If not, you can also try Gel Gel Pot nearby for dinner, which is pretty delicious and has a good cost-performance value.
