About this experience

Discover diverse and colourful Nørrebro – Copenhagen's old working-class district and today’s heart of alternative culture. Learn about its eventful history, its politically engaged and multicultural inhabitants, and why it was recently deemed one the “coolest neighbourhoods in the world”.

This 3 hour bike tour will take you through one of Copenhagen’s liveliest districts. Nørrebro is home to people from all over the world, and is brimming with art, food, youth culture, and political history.

Amongst many other things, you’ll learn why one particular housing ground has remained empty, visit a time traveler’s grave, hear the backstory of a heart made of guns, and cycle down the most frequented biking lane in town. If you want to get into the quirky part of Copenhagen, this tour is a good start.

Detailed itinerary

1

Once occupied by a factory, this square has become a central hub for life in Nørrebro.

2

Squated in the same year as Christiania. And just like Christiania, never handed over by the squatters afterwards.

3

A cemetery that is also a park.

4

Until the turn of the millennium, this was quite a rough neighborhood, with prostitution, drugs and shootings. Now it is one of the nicest shopping streets in the city.

5

Nørrebro Parken follows the old railway route (1886 - 1930) between Nørrebro and Frederiksberg. Now there is a long separate cycle route, also called Den Grønne Sti

6

An empty place as a point of interest, that requires some explanation. Jagtvej stands like a pulled tooth in an otherwise fine jaw. Like a rotten apple in a basket full of goodies.

7

The park aims to promote tolerance and equality in the multicultural neighborhood by bringing immigrants and locals together in a special environment.

A 20 minute break will be held on this spot.

8

Nowadays Bolsjefabrikken is a paradise for people who have a sweet tooth for alternative culture.

9

Unique, quiet place in the middle of a residential area. A monument, frozen in time.

10

Now one of the nicest shopping streets in town, if you are into street fashion or street food.

11

This used to be a pretty boring traffic roundabout. Until Denmark joined the EU.

12

Nørrebrogade is the main connecting road between the inner city and the Nordvest district.
